Health and safety consultancy

Matthew passed the NEBOSH general certificate in 2008 to help ensure correct health and safety practice within his business. He is now completing the globally recognised NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, qualifying him to help organisations make sensible and proportionate decisions in order to manage risk and meet regulatory requirements. This, coupled with his extensive knowledge of professional sports and play equipment places Matthew in an almost unique position to help people and businesses to operate in a safe and legal manner, reducing injuries, improving public perception, helping resolve problems and raising standards.

Matthew's experience working within the sports and play industries, specifically testing play equipment, led him to realise that there is a shortage of highly experienced and qualified health and safety professionals specialising in the area. Although a few test schemes do exist, notably ADIPS for mechanical amusements and rides and PIPA for land based inflatable amusement devices including bouncy castles, very few inspectors have professionally recognised health and safety or risk assessing qualifications, indeed very little knowledge of actual law with regard to safety and responsibility to staff and public.

Matthew's areas of health and safety speciality include: 

Inflatable amusement devices

Land and water based, including both sealed pressure and the live air feed type. Matthew is a member of PIPA and has been working as a part of the PLG (PIPA leadership group) to help the industry fully comply with HSE expectations.

Soft play

From individual items to multi level fully enclosed play frames, Matthew has extensive knowledge and experience having designed, manufactured, installed, repaired and inspected many installations across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Sports hall equipment and fitness gym.

Inspecting and testing de-mountable and fixed sports hall equipment, from trampolines to badminton posts, Matthew has systems and knowledge to carry out a suitable annual inspection as a competent person.
